THESSALY, Pharsalos. Early 4th century BC. Æ Chalkous (12mm, 2.58 g, 2h). Head of Athena r., wearing a crested Attic helmet adorned with a figure of Skylla; below, KA retrograde / Φ-A-[P]-Σ from below, r. up and circular, retrograde, horse’s head and neck r. Lavva 226 corr. [what Lavva sees as a Δ under the obverse neckline is in fact a retrograde KA and while the rest of the text description is correct, the photograph in pl. X, 226 is not of such a coin]; see however CNG e-sale 236 (7 July 2010) 95 for a die duplicate of this specimen. Near VF, nice green patina; both sides not perfectly centred on a small, thick flan.
