THESSALY, Pharsalos. Early 4th century BC. Æ Chalkous (12mm, 1.34 g, 7h). Head of Athena r., wearing a crested Attic helmet with ear flaps raised / Φ-[A]-P-Σ from r., down and l. up circular, retrograde and upside down, horse’s head and neck l. in shallow circular incuse. Dies not in Lavva but reverse similar to R161. Near VF, dark brown patina; both sides not perfectly centred on flans too small for the dies.

Head of Athena l., wearing a crested Attic helmet with ear flaps raised / Φ-A-P-Σ from above r., down and circular, retrograde and upside down, horse’s head and neck r., in concave field. Not in Lavva. Near VF, dark brown patina; obv. struck a little softly; a very rare variety.
