THESSALY, Pherai. Late 2nd quarter of the 5th century BC. AR Obol (10.5mm, 0.87 g, 5h). Head and neck of bull to l., turned to face the viewer, border of dots / below r., ΘE downwards, bridled horse’s head and neck r., all in incuse square. Liampi -, but obv. die similar to V2, rev. similar to R3. Good Fine, lightly toned, crystallized surfaces; obverse a little off centre.
One may see the circle of dots here as a linear border but closer observation indicates that when the die wears out the dots tend to join together, giving the impression of a continuous line.
