(681.1) THESSALY, Pherai. Late 2nd quarter of the 5th century BC. AR Hemiobol (7mm, 0.38 g, 9h). Bull’s hoof / [Θ]-E from above r., downwards, head and neck of horse r., all in incuse square. Liampi, Corpus, p. 112, 1 (V1/R1) and pl. 5, 47 (this coin). Near VF, toned with somewhat rough surfaces; struck on a small flan.


(681.2) THESSALY, Pherai. Late 2nd quarter of the 5th century BC. AR Hemiobol (7mm, 0.48 g, 12h). Bull’s hoof / Θ below l., head and neck of bridled horse l., all in incuse square. Liampi, Corpus -, see for similar reverses pl. 5, 47 and 48 but these are to right. Near VF, lightly toned; the obverse off centre.

The single Θ on the rev. could also stand for Pharkadon for which Liampi knew no hemiobols but comparison with the unique Pharkadon hemiobol (lot 601 in this catalogue) supports an attribution to Pherai.

(681.3) THESSALY, Pherai. Late 2nd quarter of the 5th century BC. AR Hemiobol (9mm, 0.33 g, 6h). Bull’s hoof, border of dots / ΘE to r. downwards, head and neck of bridled horse r., all in incuse square. Liampi, Corpus -, but rev. die is R2, obv. die not in corpus. Near VF, toned; reverse double struck.


(681.4) THESSALY, Pherai. Late 2nd quarter of the 5th century BC. AR Hemiobol (8mm, 0.33 g, 7h). Bull’s hoof, border of dots / ΘE to r. downwards, head and neck of horse r., all in incuse square. Liampi, Corpus, p. 112, 2 (V1/R2) and pl. 5, 48 (this coin). VF, toned, rev. off centre and flat struck on the left.
