THESSALY, Pherai. 4th century BC. Æ Chalkous (17mm, 3.71 g, 7h). Laureate head of Ennodia r., wearing triangular pendant earring and pearl necklace; before her, flaming torch / ΦEPAION r. circular, fountain spout in the form of a lion’s head r., water pouring from its mouth; below, stylized fish swimming r. in water shown as pellets. Rogers 514, fig. 280. Near VF, olive green and brown two-tone patina, an attractive and stylish coin.

THESSALY, Pherai. 4th century BC. Æ Chalkous (15mm, 2.03 g, 6h). Head of Ennodia l., wearing earring in the form of cornucopiae / ΦEPAI-ON r. circular, fountain spout in the form of a lion’s head r., water pouring from its mouth. SNG Alpha Bank 259; Winterthur 1719 (different dies, by the same hand). Good Fine, dark brown patina; the obv. high relief areas rubbed and showing the bronze underneath.
