(876.1) THESSALY, Thessalian League. Mid – late 1st century BC. AR Stater (21mm, 6.00 g, 12h). Italos and Diokles, magistrates. Head of Zeus right, wearing laurel wreath; ITAΛOY to left / ΘEΣΣA/ΛΩN, Athena Itonia striding right, hurling spear held in her right hand, shield on her left arm; ITA-ΛOΣ above spear, NI in inner right field, ΔIOKΛHΣ in exergue. McClean 4802-4 var. (these magistrates, names engraved differently). Near VF, lightly toned, traces of horn silver on the reverse.

McClean 4802, pl. 178, 6 var. (division of ΔIOKΛHΣ). VF, toned, metal is porous; hairline flan crack at 4 o’clock obverse.
