THESSALY, Koinon of Thessaly. Octavian, with Livia. 31–27 BC . Æ Obol (19mm, 7.49 g, 6h). Ita(los) and Pet(raios), magistrates. ΘΕΟΣ ΚΑΕ-ΣΑ ΘΕΣΣΑ[Λ], bare head of Octavian right; ITA below / ΛΕΙΟΥΙΑ ΗΡΑ, head of Livia right; monogram of ΠET below. Burrer Em. 1, Series 1, 2 (A1/R2); RPC 1427; see also Nomos 4, 1394 (and note hereunder). Near VF, attractive pale green patina; centering hole on Hera’s cheek.

At the time of writing this, CNG were offering in their “Coin Shop” the BCD Thessaly 1394 specimen. The asking price for this coin is $575, and with the current exchange rate of CHF 0.81 to the dollar, it does not seem as if they are making much of a profit on a coin that hammered at CHF 250!
