Ex Virgil M. Brand Collection (Part 7, Sotheby’s, 25 October 1984), lot 346 (part); Sir Hermann Weber Collection, no. 2953.This is the only Thessalian dynastic Severan coin that Rogers knew of and it was often contemplated (and envied) during the early collecting years of this writer. As luck would have it he was fortunate enough to eventually acquire not only this, but several other ‘double portrait’ Thessalian issues of the Severan family, as well as the unique triple portrait coin with Julia Domna and her two sons offered in the next lot.
