THESSALY, Koinon of Thessaly. Caracalla. AD 198-217. Æ Assarion (17mm, 3.15 g, 12h). Struck circa AD 211-217. [...] M AV ANTΩNI, laureate and cuirassed bust right / ΘЄ-CCAΛ-ΩN KOINO/[N], warrior (Caracalla?) on horse rearing right; coiled serpent to lower right. Burrer,
MA-G 37 (this coin); Rogers –. Good Fine, centering hole on reverse, dark green patina;
unique (?).
As this is the only known example, it is not possible to discern the content and/or orientation of the legends. On the obverse, the final NOC may be below or to the lower left of the bust, before the beginning of the legend. Also, on the reverse, there are indications that the final N is below the legend, and there does not seem to be enough room to the right of the serpent for it to occur there.
