Lot of 3 coins.
(988.1)
THESSALY, Koinon of Thessaly. Valerian I. AD 253-260. Æ Tetrassarion (21mm, 11.10 g, 1h). AV K ΠOΛI-O [VAΛЄPIANOC], radiate, draped, and cuirassed bust right / KOINON ΘЄ-CCAΛ[ΩN], Athena Itonia striding right, hurling spear held in her right hand, shield on her left arm; Δ (mark of value) in left field. Burrer,
MA-G 47 var. (obv. legend); Rogers 124 var. (same). Near VF, dark green patina, with some red areas.
A decent portrait and a neat strike for these usually poorly struck coins; viewing it together with lots 988.2 and 990.3, we can reconstruct the features of this unfortunate emperor who was betrayed when he sued for peace and had to spend the rest of his life in captivity, serving as a foot stool to the Sassanid king Shapur I when the latter wanted to mount his horse.
(988.2)

(988.3)
