SICILY, Syracuse. Deinomenid Tyranny. 485-466 BC. AR Tetradrachm (24mm, 17.32 g, 8h). Struck under Hieron I, circa 475-470 BC. Charioteer, holding kentron in right hand and reins in left, driving slow quadriga right; above, Nike flying right, crowning horses with open wreath held in both hands / Head of Arethusa right, hair in pearl band, wearing plain necklace; ΣYRA-KOΣI-O-N and four dolphins around. Boehringer 250 (V113/R170); SNG ANS 86 (same dies). Good VF, toned, a little die wear. Rare die combination.
