Property of Princeton Economics acquired by Martin Armstrong. Ex Classical Numismatic Group 43 (24 September 1997), lot 139.

Calciati (CNS I p. 297) comments: “The reason for which the mint of Segesta struck coins without mark of value which were subsequently punched has not yet been cleared. One might suppose that, in this way, they could decide at the moment which type of value should be attributed to the coin. We find sometimes on the same coin two pellets and two punched circles: the reason for the mixing is unknown. If this fact was intentional, it would be of difficult interpretation.”
