Tomis, Lower Moesia. Commodus. 177-192. Diassarion (Bronze, 22mm, 7.76 g 7), c. 177-180. ΑΥΤ Κ Λ ΑΥΡ ΚΟΜΟΔΟC Laueate, draped and cuirassed bust of the youthful Commodus to right. Rev. ΜΗΤΡΟΠ ΠΟΝΤΟΥ ΤΟΜΕΩC Asklepios standing left, leaning on his serpent entwined staff; in field to right, Β. Cf. CNG 88, 721 (same obverse die). Attractive, dark blackish green patina. A beautifully preserved example with a fine portrait. Extremely fine.
