ATTICA, Athens. Circa 165-42 BC. AR Tetradrachm (31mm, 16.84 g, 12h). New Style coinage. Hera(kles), Aristoph-, and Basilei(des), magistrates. Struck 136/5 BC. Head of Athena Parthenos right / Owl standing right, head facing, on amphora; A-ӨE above HPA/API-ΣTOΦ/BAΣI/ΛEI (magistrates’ names) in five lines across field; to left, club facing downward, draped in lion skin and set over bow in case; K on amphora, ΓΛ below; all within wreath. Thompson 339a = Svoronos, Monnaies pl. 45, 10 (same dies). Near EF, lightly toned.
