Umayyad Caliphate. Anonymous/Uncertain. Æ Pashiz (29mm, 4.87 g, 10h). Mint and date, if present, unclear. Crowned Sasanian-style bust right; “May xvarrah increase” in Pahlavi behind, illegible inscription before; open circle border with star-in-crescent motif at [3], 6, and 9 o’clock; c/m: crowned Sasanian-style bust within oval incuse / Largely illegible Pahlavi legend, only the last line of which can be read as “current”; double circle border with star-in-crescent motif at 3, 6, 9, and 12 o’clock. Gyselen 86 and countermark IX. Fine, rough brown and black surfaces, but comparable in quality to the other known specimens. Extremely rare.
