LYDIA, Thyateira. Commodus. AD 177-192. Æ Medallion (43mm, 40.53 g, 6h). Marcus Aurelius Athenaios, magistrate. Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust right; c/m’s: head right (Caracalla?) within circular incuse (2x) / Asclepius standing facing on left, leaning on serpent-entwined staff; to right, Apollo Tyrimnaios standing left, holding laurel branch. RPC Online temp. no. 8494.3 = Mabbot II 1851 (this medallion); for c/m’s: Howgego 93. Fine, dark green and brown patina. Very rare.
