This rare gold solidus, attributed to the Thessalonica mint, was issued in Honorius' name by his nephew Theodosius II, emperor in the east. It has the facing military bust typical of eastern solidi in the fifth century, while the reverse depicts a seated figure of Constantinopolis, the personification of the imperial capital in the east.
