THRACE, Perinthus. Gordian III. AD 238-244. Æ Medallion (41mm, 41.88 g, 1h). Laureate and cuirassed bust right, slight drapery; gorgoneion on breastplate / Tyche standing left, holding temple in each hand; to left, agonistic urn above AKT/IA; to right agonistic urn above ΠV/ΘI/A. Schönert, Perinthos 861; Varbanov 552 (same dies as illustration). VF, green patina, light smoothing, minor areas of fill. An interesting type commemorating both the Actian and Pythian games and the respective respective temples with which they were associated.
