LESBOS, Eresos. 1st century BC. Æ Dichalkon (16mm, 2.00 g, 1h). Gorgoneion facing / [ЄP]ЄCI ΩN, winged kerykeion. Ralli-Photopoulou and Lagos, “The Coinage of Eresos,”
NK 20, Series X, fig. 40 = SNG von Aulock 1736 (same dies); HGC 6, -. VF, green patina. Perhaps the second known, and the only in private hands (the von Aulock specimen now being in the British Museum).
Ralli-Photopoulou and Lagos suggest the possibility that the obverse might represent Hermes, given the kerykeion (caduceus) on the reverse.
