Sold for $850. This amount does not include the buyer’s fee.

Fragmentary bronze ring with portrait of Cleopatra VII. Late Hellenistic, circa 50-31 BC. Oval bezel with intaglio portrait of Queen Cleopatra VII, wearing necklace and light drapery, with her hair tied in small bun at neck. Height of bezel: 2.3cm; weight: 7.81g. Dark grayish-green patina. Much of hoop missing.

The style of hair and drapery conform well to that of Cleopatra VII, the most famous of Egyptian queens, particularly to the portraiture found on her 80 and 40 drachmai minted in Alexandria.
