Bronze ring with Christ and the Twelve Apostles. Roman, circa 4th century AD. Thin, plain band widening towards raised shield depicting thirteen figures in two registers: larger figure, representing Christ, in upper right (on impression) of top register, raising hand as if to bless or address five Apostles facing him; an additional seven Apostles in lower register, facing the same direction as the upper five.
Ring size: British T, US 9¾. Black patina. Intact.
It is difficult to identify a specific scene. The front figure appears to be holding what looks like a fish, which would suggest the Miracle of the Loaves and Fishes is represented, although this is just conjectural. It could also simply be a generic representation of Christ and His Apostles, not intended as a scene from a narrative.
