ANGLO-SAXON, Continental Sceattas. Circa 710-765. AR Sceat (11mm, 0.65 g). Series E, Secondary ('Kloster Barthe') phase, porcupine var. C (Type 4). Mint in Frisia (Dorestad?). ‘Porcupine’ right, III: within, row of pellets separating hairs from body / Standard with TOTII within (II in crescent form); two pellets in each margin. Cf. Metcalf 244/253 (for similar obv./rev.); North 48; SCBC 791 (790). Good VF, toned.
