THESSALY, Pherai. Circa 460-440 BC. AR Drachm (18mm, 6.07 g, 8h). Youthful hero Thessalos, nude but for petasos hanging from neck, restraining bull right by band held around its head; retrograde ΓΛA to upper left / Φ-E-R-A-I, bridled horse right, with rein trailing; to upper left, lion’s head fountain with water pouring from its mouth; all within incuse square. BCD Thessaly II 682. VF, toned. Good metal.
