THESSALY, Larissa. Circa 450/40-420 BC. AR Drachm (19mm, 5.94 g, 9h). Youthful hero Thessalos, his petasos and chlamys hanging around neck, restraining bull left by band held around its head / ΛAPIΣA above, IA (retrograde) below, bridled horse prancing left; all within incuse circle. Lorber, Thessalian -; BCD Thessaly II 176 (same dies; hammer of $5000). VF, darkly toned, obverse die breaks at petasos and on hero’s right thigh, minor surface corrosion on reverse.
