The Pompeians. Cnaeus Pompey Jr. Summer 46-Spring 45 BC. AR Denarius (17mm, 3.66 g, 6h). Corduba (Cordoba) mint; M. Minatius Sabinus, proquaestor. Bare head of Pompey the Great right / Soldier standing right, looking back toward Spanish city-goddess standing right; before, a second city-goddess kneeling left, presenting shield. Buttrey Type B, dies 1/–; Crawford 470/1b; CRI 52; Sydenham 1037; RSC 9a (Pompey the Great). VF, darkly toned, porous. Very rare.

This type was likely issued shortly before the Battle of Munda. It is part of a series of denarii struck under M. Minatius Sabinus advertising the support of the Spanish cities for the Pompeian cause.
