732040. Sold For $295

THRACE, Maroneia. After 146 BC. AR Tetradrachm (16.14 gm). Wreathed head of young Dionysos right / DIONUSOU SWTHROS MAPWNITWN, nude Dionysos standing half-left, holding grapes narthex stalks and cloak; below, monograms to left and right. Cf. Schönert-Geiss 1094 (V38/R-, unlisted reverse die). Good VF, overstruck on uncertain type. $295.

This obverse die is not published in Schönert-Geiss in conjunction with this reverse monogram that contains a dot inside the 'A' of the QAK monogram. Nonetheless, obverse dies 37 and 39 are published with this monogram, so it is not suprising to find 38 also paired with it.
