THESSALY, Koinon of Thessaly. Claudius. AD 41-54. Æ Triassarion (25mm, 14.24 g, 12h). Antigonos, strategos. ΘEΣΣAΛΩN ΣEBAΣTAΩN (sic), laureate head right / ANTIΓO[N]OY [ΣTPATH]ΓOY, Apollo Citharoedus standing right, playing cithara; monogram to left. Burrer Em. 1, Series 1a (A1/R11); BCD Thessaly II 923.1 var. (obv. legend; “tetrasssarion”); RPC I 1433.14 = SNG Evelpidis 1669 (same obv. die). VF, green patina, minor roughness.

From the BCD Collection.

Burrer (p. 129) does not number the Evelpidis specimen, the only coin he knew of from obverse die A1. The reverse of that coin is in very poor condition, precluding an identification of the die.
