SICILY, Agyrion. 339-336 BC. Æ Hemilitron (29mm, 15.36 g, 5h). Head of young Herakles (or Iolaos?) right, wearing tainia, lion skin tied around his neck / Panther standing right on ground, gnawing on stag’s head held down by his foreclaws; [AΓYPIN]AIΩN in exergue. Castrizio Series V, 1 (D1/R2); CNS 12; Puglisi –; Campana 12; HGC 2, 50; SNG ANS 1167 (same obv. die); Basel 249 (this coin). EF, green-brown patina. Very rare and the finest known.
