MOESIA INFERIOR/THRACE, Barbarous imitation of an uncertain mint. Septimius Severus, with Caracalla(?). AD 193-211. Æ (17mm, 2.48 g, 9h). Bare head of Septimius Severus right / Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Caracalla(?) right. VF, green patina.

Many mints in Moesia Inferior and Thrace struck such small-module bronzes during the Severan period. The legends on this peculiar piece are sufficiently degraded to preclude identifying the particular mint it imitates, if there was a specific prototype that combines such an obverse/reverse. This barbarous coin could be after two separate obverses.
