2nd Intermediate Period. Circa 1650-1550 BC. Steatite scarab (16x12mm). Three deeply carved recesses on the back, once filled with paste or faience inlay. Base engraved with a coiled cord pattern. For a similar back, cf. Rowe pl. 1, 34. Intact, once glazed, pierced for mounting.
