2nd Intermediate Period. Circa 1650-1550 BC. Steatite scarab (18x12mm). Base engraved with three
nfr (“good”) flanked by symmetric signs including Eyes of Horus and Uraei (Royal Cobras). Small chips at base, once glazed, pierced for mounting.
From the David Hendin Collection.
The line of discoloration on the back indicates the scarab was mounted in a swivel ring and is the result of friction on the wearer’s skin.
