Æ Medallion (25mm, 8.19 g, 6h). +ΘKЄ BOHΘ [T]ω Cω ΔOVΛ, draped facing busts of the Theotokos (Virgin Mary) and youthful Christ, holding volumen / [O/ A]/ΓI to left, N/I/KO to right, draped facing bust of St. Nicholas, raising right hand in benediction and holding Gospels in left; nimbus with ornate scroll decoration applied post-striking. For another from the same dies and with the similar engraving in the nimbus, see CNG 69, lot 2278 (that specimen gilt and holed twice). Near VF, green-brown patina, holed. A rare and interesting piece.
