NEZAK HUNS(?), in Khorasan. Vasu Deva & Mardanshah. Circa 7th Century AD. AR Drachm (2.85 gm). Year 35 (624 AD). Facing bust of Sasanian king Khusro II / Facing bust of Anahit with arch-shaped flaming nimbus; without pellets on reverse border. Countermarked with a flying boar's head right. Göbl EM 216, c/m102; MACW 1563. Fine, uneven toning; c/m partially pierces coin. Scarce // Lot also includes: Nezak Huns. Sahi Tigin. After 677 AD. AR Drachm (3.44 gm). Bust imitating Khusro II right; Brahmi legends in fields, Baktrian legend around rim / Fire altar with attendants; Pahlevi legends in fields, Baktrian legend around rim. The first coin is a joint issue between Vasu Deva, king of Zavlistan (Zabulistan), and Mardanshah, Sasanian viceroy of Nimruz. Mardanshah was executed in 624 AD, the year of issue for this coin.
