SICILY, Messana. 478-476 BC. AR Tetradrachm (26mm, 17.06 g, 1h). Charioteer, holding kentron in left hand and reins in both, driving slow biga of mules right; laurel leaf in exergue / Hare springing right; MESSE-N-IO-N (SS retrograde) around. Caltabiano Series IIB, 76.2 and 3 corr. (D41/R39) = SNG Lockett 817 = Pozzi (Boutin) 1088 = Pozzi 484 (this coin); HGC 2, 779. Good VF, toned, minor die break on obverse.
