SICILY, Syracuse. Philistis, wife of Hieron II. 275-215 BC. AR 16 Litrai – Tetradrachm (25mm, 13.45 g, 5h). Struck circa 240-218/5 BC. Diademed and veiled head left; cup with handles to right / [BAΣ]IΛIΣΣA[Σ] ΦIΛIΣTIΔOΣ, Nike, holding reins in both hands, driving fast quadriga right; E to lower right. CCO 15 (D1/R1); BAR Issue 65; HGC 2, 1554; de Luynes 1373 (same dies); BMC 544 (same obv. die). Good VF, toned, some light scratches and nicks, die break on reverse. Very rare from first dies of the series.
