THRACE, Byzantion. Circa 100-90 BC or later. AV Stater (19mm, 8.08 g, 12h). In the name and types of Lysimachos. Diademed head of the deified Alexander right, with horn of Ammon / BACIΛЄWC ΛYCIMAXOY, Athena Nikephoros seated left, left arm resting on shield, transverse spear in background; Є (oriented downward) in left field, BY below throne, ornate trident in exergue. Unpublished. Good VF, slight die shift and a little die rust on obverse.
Struck from the same obverse die as the previous lot.
Both of these issues also exhibit changes in the letter forms used in their legends, attesting to their 1st century BC origin. On both, the omega is now in its uncial form, while on the second stater, the epsilon and sigmas are now lunate.
