PISIDIA, Apollonia-Mordiaeum. Vespasian. AD 69-79. Æ (24mm, 8.84 g, 6h). AVTOKPATOPI KAICAP C[...]VECΠACIAN, laureate head right / ΛΠΟΛΛωNIATω–N ΛYKIωN, Zeus seated left, holding patera and scepter. Von Aulock,
Pisidiens 65 = RPC 1601 corr. (Titus as Caesar, Zeus described as holding thunderbolt and scepter). Good Fine, dark brown patina, faint adjustment marks. Extremely rare – perhaps the second known of this type and the third known Flavian coin from Apollonia.
From Harry N. Sneh Collection.
Only one example of this type is recorded by von Aulock and RPC – for Titus. That coin may be from the same obverse die as the current lot, although the von Aulock/RPC specimen is in such poor condition it is difficult to verify.
