ANGLO-SAXON, Kings of All England. Cnut. 1016-1035. AR Penny (20mm, 1.51 g, 3h). Scandinavian imitation of Quatrefoil type, York mint, moneyer Hildræd. Struck circa 1016-1020. + CNVT REX ΛNGLORV, crowned bust left / + HILDRED MO EO, voided long cross with triple-crescent ends and pellet at center, over quatrefoil; pellet in outer angles of quatrefoil. Malmer dies 728.1914, Chain 151; SCBI 13 (Copenhagen), 737–8 (same dies); Hild. 666 (same dies). VF, toned, some peck marks as usual. Very rare.
