THAILAND, Nakhon Si Thammarat Kingdom (Ligor). temp. Chulalongkorn (Rama V). King of Siam, second reign, 1873-1910. PB 1/4 Bia (41mm, 28.22 g, 12h). Probably cast 1888. “Lu K’un T’ung Yüan” (
Money of Lakhon [Ligor]) in Chinese characters; figures of rats to upper right and lower left; c/ms: “Hé” (
harmony) chopmark at lower right, uncertain character within incuse rectangle at upper left / “Ho Li” (
peace and profit) in Chinese characters; phoenix above, dragon below. Pridmore,
Native, 227 (illustrated example shows “Hé” chopmark only. Good VF, dark blue-gray patina. Rare.
The presence of the rats on the obverse of this coin may indicate the year of the rat and thus date this issue to 1888.
