THESSALY, Phalanna. Circa 322 BC. Æ Chalkous (13mm, 2.27 g, 9h). Head of Ares right, wearing crested Attic helmet / ΦAΛ–ANNA–[IΩ]N, horse trotting right. Rogers –; BCD Thessaly II 577 var. (arrangement of ethnic); BCD Thessaly I 1258 var. (same). VF, dark green patina.

From the BCD Collection.

A note from BCD from the Triton sale: These small chalkoi must have been an afterthought; they usually are very hurriedly struck and with random die alignments, contrary to the dichalka (see the previous lot) that are carefully struck and centred and come with adjusted dies.
