LUCANIA, Metapontum. Circa 340-330 BC. Didrachm or Nomos (Silver, 19mm, 7.87 g 7), signed by Pro.... Head of Demeter to left, wearing a barley wreath, a triple-pendant earring and a simple necklace, and with a light veil at the back of her head; to left and right, Α Π. Rev. ΜΕΤΑ Ear of barley with leaves to right and left; to left, above leaf, tripod; to right, above leaf and below inscription, ΠΡΟ. HN III 1566. Johnston A7.2. An attractive, toned example, sharply struck and very elegant. Extremely fine.
