SICILY, Uncertain Punic military mint, “People of the camp”. Circa 330-320 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 27mm, 16.90 g 1). Head of Tanit to left, wearing wreath of reeds, triple-pendant earring and pearl necklace; around, four dolphins.
Rev. Horse prancing to left with date palm tree behind. Gulbenkian 365 (
same dies). Jenkins, “Coins of Punic Sicily” 3 (SNR 56, 1977), 138 (
this coin cited). An attractive, toned coin struck on a broad flan. Some porosity,
otherwise, extremely fine.
