THRACE, Ainos. Circa 374/3-372/1 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 22mm, 15.05 g 12). Head of Hermes facing, turned slightly to left, wearing a petasos with knob at the top and beads along the edge.
Rev. ΑΙΝΙΟΝ Male goat standing to right; below right, wreath; all within shallow incuse square. May,
Ainos 408 (A247/P289). With a fine and serene head of Hermes. Toned as found. Reverse slightly rough,
otherwise, about extremely fine/very fine.
Ex Nomos 6, 8 May 2012, 32, from an American collection and acquired in 1997.
The head of Hermes on this coin shows us a god who is basically kindly, not at all as dangerous as he appears in the preceeding lot.
