Revered Bagshawe was the rector of the small village of Eyam in Derbyshire from 1826-1862. According to a handwritten note from his great-grandson (included with lot), the Reverend apparently acquired this group from a numismatist in Trier, where they were found near “the Forta Nigra Tesselated Pave + from the Basilica.”
