Claudius. AD 41-54. Æ Sestertius (32mm, 17.63 g, 5h). Imitating a Rome mint issue of AD 41-42. Laureate head right / Spes advancing left, holding flower and hem of skirt. For prototype: RIC I 99; von Kaenel Type 55. VF, green patina. Finely engraved and executed. Perhaps an early Romano–British imitation, although the style does not closely match any specimens in Sutherland’s study.
From the Dr. Georgios I. Michael Collection.
