Vespasian. AD 69-79. Æ As (26mm, 10.68 g, 6h). Rome mint. Struck AD 77-78. Laureate head right / Victory standing right on [prow], holding wreath and palm. RIC II 1013 var. (rev. legend clockwise). Good Fine, brown and green patina. Very rare.


RIC II 1014 note mentions a specimen in Vienna which also has the reverse legend reading counterclockwise, but that coins lacks the S C on the reverse and has the longer-form obverse legend, IMP CAESAR VESPASIAN COS VIII.
