SELEUKID KINGS of SYRIA. Antiochos I Soter. 281-261 BC. Æ (20mm, 6.85 g, 9h). Antioch on the Orontes mint. Macedonian shield with central anchor / Horned elephant walking right; monograms iabove (obscured by anchor countermark), jawbone in exergue. SC 339.4; HGC 9, 148. Good Fine, brown patina with patches of red. Interesting overstrike.
From the J. P. Righetti Collection.
It appears that this coin was overstruck on a coin with an already existing anchor countermark as several letters of ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ are on top of the anchor.
