Blue chalcedony seal. Neo–Babylonian, circa 600–550 BC. Eight–sided stamp seal with bidirectional piercing at top. On face, elongated, bearded priest of Marduk facing right, with arms raised in supplication, before an altar of Marduk and Nabu, noted by the spade of Marduk and two styli of Nabu. Crescent moon above, in reference to Ishtar.
Dimensions: 27x23x12mm. Rost 247. Seal cracked at right hand side surrounding hole, otherwise in good condition.
