Silvered and gilt bronze crossbow fibula. Roman, 3rd–4th centuries AD. Bronze crossbow fibula that has been extensively silvered, with gilding in areas over that. Bow, decorated with two parallel lines containing a series of overlapping circles, gives way to S–pattern design and two peacock heads.
Maximum length: 57mm. Pin intact but fixed due to corrosion. A finely decorated example.
