THESSALY, Pharsalos. Mid-late 5th century BC. AR Tetartemorion (7mm, 0.21 g, 1h). Helmeted head of Athena right / Head and neck of horse right within incuse square. Unpublished. VF, toned, light porosity. Unique.

From the BCD Collection.

Tetartemoria are extremely rare for all cities in Thessaly, and are only known for Larissa, Pharkadon, and Pharsalos. While BCD II 637 is a tetartemorion of Pharsalos, this coin is from an earlier issue; its style is most similar to the dies of Lavva 8–10.
